Connecticut

ENE's advocacy work began in Connecticut. Many successes there, including the creation of the Energy Conservation Management Board , the advocacy efforts of Connecticut Alliance Against Diesel Pollution, and the Connecticut Climate Change Roadmap, have served as models for energy, diesel and climate projects in the region. Energy

Starting with the initiation of New England’s first statewide and model stakeholder board to advance energy efficiency and most recently with steps to implement the utilities' plan to triple efficiency investments, ENE has helped Connecticut usher in precedent-setting reforms to how the state uses and purchases energy. Climate

ENE joined with partner advocates to advance An Act Concerning Connecticut Global Warming Solutions, a statewide cap that makes Connecticut the first New England state to require mandatory cuts in global warming pollution. The bill sets enforceable targets for emissions reductions and calls for a plan to slash GHGs from multiple sources. Its adoption is an important step toward implmenting the recommendations ENE set forth in the  Climate Change Roadmap for Connecticut and will help Connecticut reach its official state and regional climate goals. Transportation & Diesel

ENE launched the Connecticut Alliance Against Diesel Pollution (CAADP), the first such coalition to form around diesel concerns in New England. Working with our coalition partners, ENE developed materials and organized events to educate and solicit support from grassroots, health, and other community groups, and developed a platform and straw proposals for maximizing emissions reductions from priority fleets that became the basis for legislation.
